Ginkgo, also known as Maidenhair Tree, originates from Southeast Asia. The Ginkgo leaf extract has been used for therapeutic purposes for centuries. Its characteristic fan-shaped, bi-lobed leaves contain several active ingredients, of which ginkgo flavone glycosides and terpene lactones are believed to constitute those with the therapeutic properties.

Michelle Kelly is Pharma Nord Ireland’s Training Co-Ordinator. She holds a first class honours degree in Biological Sciences along with an MSc in Human Nutrition and Metabolism. She is a qualified Nutritional Therapist and ran a clinic in Galway where nutrition advice and guidelines were provided to clients with numerous requirements including weight loss, diabetes care and heart health.
