SUMMARY:Bloom in the Park 2019
DESCRIPTION:Bloom was launched by Bord Bia in 2007 primarily as a promotional vehicle for horticulture; providing a showcase for garden plants\, garden design\, construction\, horticulture and gardening as a hobby.  Based on similar successful formats such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Shows and RHS Hampton Court Palace shows\, Bloom has numerous highly creative gardens and plant displays which are used to inspire and excite the public about gardening and garden design. The OPW’s support and provision of 70 acres at the heart of the Phoenix Park has assisted Bord Bia in developing a show with a greater diversity of content than traditional garden shows. Bord Bia’s wider remit across food\, drink and horticulture has enabled the development a consumer show that engages the public with artisan and Bord Bia Quality Assured food\, meeting Ireland’s top chefs and cooks and learning more about and experiencing Irish fruit\, vegetables and potato production. SUMMARY:How to use Oxygen to Support Mitochondrial Function
DESCRIPTION:Mitochondria are responsible for energy production. To function properly\, Mitochondria need oxygen and healthy cellular respiration. Without adequate respiration\, the mitochondria are unable to communicate with other cells\, cannot take in nutrients\, expel toxins or produce energy. \nOver a period of time\, an individual with poor cellular respiration may develop a host of degenerative diseases such as Chronic Fatigue\, Alzheimer’s\, Parkinson’s\, Autism and more. \nOxygen therapy is a rapidly developing therapeutic area\, and one that has demonstrated an ability to re-establish mitochondrial function. In this lecture\, Dr Robert Lyons MD will explain the process of cellular respiration and how different oxygen therapies work to re-establish healthy function to offset and reverse mitochondrial dysfunction. \nWhen: Mon\, 3 June 2019 \nTime: 19:00 – 21:30 \nWhere:  Hilton Hotel Dublin Airport\, Malahide Road\, Northern Cross\, Dublin 17 (Free car parking) \nCPD Points: 2 CPD points \nCost: Free of charge

Miguel is a clinician-researcher in the field of nutrition for gut and brain health. He has been described as “a creative scientist” and is known for his warm and jovial talks. He is very much looking forward to sharing his knowledge with us at our AGM this year. So that you get a taste of his work we recommend you follow him on social media: \nhttps://www.instagram.com/miguelmateas/ \nhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/miguelmateas/ \nhttps://twitter.com/miguelmateas \nLeo Pruimboom: PhD. Leo is a psycho-neuro-immunologist\, (PNI) physiotherapist and physiologist. To follow is a short summary of the 2 fascinating topics he will cover: \nNutrition as medicine; the hormetic effects of ubiquitous nutrients and their care and cure impact on chronic disease. Life started with the presence of several Energetic substances in the Geothermic pool. Vitamin B’s were present in rocks and gave ‘birth’ to the development of RNA in the first unicellular organisms. Much later a unique substance appeared with the name of N-erythroid derived-related factor 2\, NRF2. This substance activates so called vita genes and facilitates the capacity to detoxify and neutralise free radicals. NRF2 appeared when oxygen levels became high and complex life started. Today NRF is still responsible for health and life span in all living organisms. nevertheless\, modern life puts a high burden on its activity and capacity to maintain homeostasis. Nutrition and certain nutrients can re-activate NRF and protect against the deleterious effects of modern life. \nIntermittent living; the universal evidence based protocol to treat chronic disease. It’s all about energy\, could also be the title of this topic. Energy distribution between the different parts of the body is essential for health and life span. Disturbance of energy distribution is the main cause of most if not all chronic diseases. A disease can be explained in many ways but there will always be a lack of ATP in the affected tissue or organ. Energy distribution is regulated through seven different pathways. It are these pathways which are disturbed by modern life producing insulin resistance\, low thyroid hormone syndrome and over activation of stress axes. The monotony of modern life should be considered the most important risk factor for disturbances of energy distribution. A life based on the use of short ancient challenges such as intermittent hypoxia\, heat and fasting can recover normal function and serve as primary and secondary preventive intervention for most of chronic diseases.
